Council inspection reports
Our council inspection reports give the key findings
from inspections and suggest ways that councils can
improve.
An inspection report might provide details of an inspection that
looked at how well a council provides services to:
- Older people
- People with learning disabilities
- People with mental health problems
- People with physical and sensory disabilities
An inspection report might provide details of an inspection that
looked at a council's performance across one to three different
themes. This new style of inspection report, that we have called
Independence, wellbeing and choice, was launched
in 2007 to fit with our new performance assessment framework.
You can find reports for individual care services in our
care services directory.
Other reports about councils
We carry out some of our council inspections with other
organisations like the Healthcare Commission and Ofsted.

Joint inspections of older people's services
In 2005 we worked with the Healthcare Commission and the Audit
Commission on inspections of ten councils providing services for
older people.
