Making sure we treat people equally

Find out how we make sure we treat people equally and how we take people's different needs into account.

When we develop a new way of working it's important to look at how it will affect the different people who use care services.

To do this we look at how our work may affect the people who are most likely to experience discrimination or barriers.

Discrimination is caused when people treat others badly or unfairly because of things like their:

  • race
  • gender
  • sexuality
  • disability
  • religion.

We look at all these things to make sure our work doesn't discriminate against people because of who they are.

We write a report on our findings, called an equality impact assessment, saying what we've done about this.
