How I made my choice: Beryl Purdy
8 January 2008
A personal story of choosing care by Beryl
Purdy.
When I decided to move into Seely Hirst House, I wanted to visit
to see what it was like, so I made an appointment with a friend. I
liked what I saw and discussed my requirements with the staff.
I was invited to spend a day and later a night, to ensure I was
making the right decision. I enjoyed the experience and asked for
my name to be added to their waiting list.
A few weeks later, I viewed an available room. It was not my
ideal choice, as it could not hold all my furniture. However, I was
assured, there was extra storage and I could move when a more
suitable room became free.
On moving day a week later, the staff unpacked for me. It was
nice and cosy and I felt sure I would be happy in my new home. It
was as though a great weight had been lifted off my mind. Two weeks
after, I viewed a larger room and moved in instantly with all my
furniture.
It has been seven years since, and I still continue to enjoy it
here.
